Renting Tucker House? Why not add an educational experience to your stay?

Whatever your purpose for renting Tucker House, we have several fun and educational programs on offer to enhance your stay. This could be:

• A thought provoking kick off to your event.
• A team building experience for your meeting or retreat.
• A guest speaker to add to or complement your existing program of events
• A fun and engaging distraction for the kids at your family reunion (it will be our little secret that they are learning something.)

The following programs are offered. All programs are approximately 1 hour in length but  can be customized to fit into your schedule - program staff can be involved for an hour 'break' or for the full day. We can bring organized activities for everyone or just the kids!

1. Nature walk: Experience a guided tour of the rich and diverse natural environment at Tucker House. The walk changes by season and takes you though a variety of ecosystems on the Tucker House property including old growth forest, meadow, creek and wetland areas and a quarry where fossils are visible.

2. History tour: Learn about life in the 1870’s and the Tucker family in particular. Find out why the Tucker family was influential enough to the Rockland area to have the road named after them. Get a taste of daily life at the time for both classes of residents of the home. Learn how some of the building methods and features of the home provide lessons in sustainability for modern life.

3. Garden tour (June-October): Reconnect with your food while learning more sustainable ways of growing. The garden tour will introduce you to new and unusual vegetables and offer you opportunities to get your hands dirty and wake up your taste buds.

4. Ecological footprint – what’s your size?: Find out the size of your ecological footprint in a fun and engaging way. Are you a ballerina or a Godzilla? Find out which describes you best and what you may want to do about it.

5. Food choices and the environment: Find out ways of eating that are healthier for you and the planet, the importance of eating locally or more sustainable alternatives to industrial agriculture.

Program Rates

Program rates are $2/person/workshop (minimum of $50/ workshop). Each workshop is one-hour in length. If you are coming only for the program (such a school field trip), visit the Fieldtrip Page for details.
